i wanted one page that could remind me that my lifetime is finite, and that today is one of its days.

i know my life is finite. i can say that eighty years is 29,200 days, but the number disappears from my mind almost immediately. years feel large and abstract. an ordinary day feels replaceable.
i wanted something harder to ignore, so i built life in days.
it puts an eighty-year life on one screen. every small cell is one day. the days already lived are grey. the days ahead are faint. once a day, i press acknowledge today, and today's cell becomes a mark i made on purpose.
there is no account and nothing to maintain. the birthdate and the marks stay in the browser. they can be exported, imported, or erased. the whole tool is one html file because i want to be able to keep opening it years from now.
i have more to write about death, but i am not ready to fit that into this small post. that longer piece can come later.
for now, the job is smaller: open the page, see the whole grid, acknowledge today, and close it.
